4 Day Tsavo National Park Adventure

Day 1: Departure from Nairobi and Arrival in Tsavo East
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by Yulle Adventures representative or tour guide for meet, greet and safari briefing. Start your adventure with an early morning departure from Nairobi. The drive to Tsavo East National Park will take approximately 4 to 5 hours, covering a distance of around 350 kilometers. To make your journey comfortable, consider packing a light breakfast or stopping at a roadside restaurant along the way. Arriving at the park around noon, you'll enter through the Voi Gate, the primary entry point for Tsavo East. Check into your chosen accommodation where you'll be welcomed with lunch and a chance to settle in.
Embark on your first game drive in the afternoon, a prime time to see various wildlife species as the temperatures cool down. Expect to encounter lions, giraffes, and zebras during this drive. Tsavo East is renowned for its distinctive red elephants, and you'll have the opportunity to witness these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. The Mudanda Rock area is a prime spot for viewing large herds of elephants. Return to the lodge around 6:30 PM for dinner, and if your lodge has a viewing area, you might spot wildlife at a nearby waterhole while enjoying your meal. Spend the night at your lodge, resting up for the next day's adventures.
Day 2: Full Exploration of Tsavo East
Wake up early at 6:00 AM for a refreshing morning game drive, which is the best time to observe predators and early-rising animals. The park's vast savannahs and diverse wildlife offer exciting viewing opportunities. Return to the lodge around 8:00 AM for breakfast.
After breakfast, head to the Aruba Dam at 9:30 AM. This area is known for attracting a variety of animals, including elephants, buffalos, and a plethora of bird species. Enjoy the wildlife spectacle before heading back to the lodge for lunch at noon.
The afternoon provides some leisure time. You can relax by the pool or simply unwind at the lodge. At 3:00 PM, embark on another game drive or visit the Yatta Plateau, a striking feature of the park and the world's longest lava flow. From this plateau, you’ll get panoramic views of the park’s landscape. Return to the lodge by 6:00 PM for dinner, and if available, consider participating in a night game drive at 7:30 PM to see nocturnal animals like hyenas and leopards. Spend the night at your lodge or camp.
Day 3: Transition to Tsavo West
After an early breakfast at 6:00 AM, prepare for the drive from Tsavo East to Tsavo West. This journey takes approximately 2 to 3 hours, covering about 150 kilometers. Arrive at Tsavo West National Park through the Mtito Andei Gate by 10:00 AM.
Upon entry, start a game drive exploring the diverse landscapes of Tsavo West. Notable highlights include Mzima Springs, where you can observe hippos and crocodiles through underwater viewing tanks. Arrive at your lodge around 12:00 PM for check-in and lunch.
In the afternoon, visit the Shetani Lava Flow and the scenic Chyulu Hills. These volcanic formations and rolling hills provide unique landscapes and a different perspective on the park. Return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation. The evening can be spent enjoying the lodge’s amenities or taking in the serene surroundings. Spend the night at your lodge or camp.
Day 4: Final Exploration and Return to Nairobi
On your final day, rise early at 6:00 AM for a final morning game drive. This drive provides one last chance to encounter the park’s wildlife and enjoy the beauty of Tsavo West. Afterward, return to the lodge for breakfast at 8:00 AM.
Following breakfast, visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary around 9:30 AM. This area is dedicated to the protection of the endangered black rhino, and it offers a chance to see these rare creatures up close. Enjoy some final relaxation at the lodge before preparing for departure.
